Building Peace Campaign

Currently at $887,130 in pledges and 48% of goal!

The Building Peace is St. Luke’s capital campaign to advance the St. Luke Spirit of Peace to our world, our community, our Parish and ourselves – on a new piece of land.

Background:

On August 4, 2011 St. Luke’s parish purchased new property for our future location.  It is 31 acres of beautiful land located three miles up Interstate 485 on Hwy 218.  Environmental laws have restricted our ability to grow on our current property.  We have less than four useable acres at our present site, which eliminates options like building parking decks, expanding classrooms or utilizing space any more efficiently to handle the growing volume of Parishioners and needs of 50+ Ministries.  In addition, the widening of Lawyers Road and the potential for an eventual Mall across the street, make our current property less attractive to our use as a church.

Goals of the Building Peace campaign:

  • Repay the $850,000 loan advanced by the Diocese for the new property and fund $25,000 for a Site Plan required before any construction or material changes can be made to the new land
  • Complete the capital campaign in 36 months -- June 2012 to May 2015
  • Get total participation of all 1,300+ Parish Families as an expression of our willingness to share God’s Blessings
  • Position St. Luke to respond to outside influences such as the new mall, Lawyers Road expansion to seven lanes, etc.
  • Continue to evaluate - with your help - the best way to expand St. Luke’s Spirit of Building Peace for the future

Current Progress:

The campaign to fund Building Peace launched in March 2012 and went through June 2012.  Contributions began in June 2012, and will run through May 2015.
